That really sucks! I had SMS make me the same top but I haven't yet tried to install it. Pretty sure the rear window isn't cut out on mine ? I tried long and hard to get a dark green wide seam vinyl roof but no one makes them except SMS. It was something like $400.00 and  I had to wait over a year to finally get it.  :screwy:

You have got me thinking. If mine doesn't fit I will get the material from SMS by the yard and see if Legendary can sew it up for me? Legendary rep is the one that first put me in contact with SMS. He advised me that SMS manufactured most of their vinyl so you know the quality of the material is ok.
Would you have any pics of your top on the car?

I just went to the shop and threw the vinyl top on my brothers 69 Camaro as the Challenger is still at the paint shop. Looks like it will fit properly. Measurement from seam to seam at the rear is approx. 64 inches. Seam will definitely go down sail panel. Back window is not cut out.  Maybe I got lucky. I also called Legendary this morning and if I supply my own material they are willing to sew up the top for $199.00. They said the material needs to be at least 65 inches wide to make the Challenger wide seam top.  Good Luck and let us know how you make out.

Dye a black one? Man, I'll never buy another SE, Ended up peeling mine off after 3 attempts, now waiting to get in where a senior citizen will try to put another one down, have to trailer the car 2 hours to get there. Ugh, working through the trim debacle and making wiring harnesses for the SE specific fluff to take my mind off the top.
Have an offer on the car now, may just take it...

Further update-- It seems that a wide seam top takes 63" min. wide material to make. The mills only make 60" in the dark green. Whitye or black is the only colors that come in that width. This sucks !!

SMS can make new green material 65 inches wide. They did it for me. Ask for Ben and have him look up order ID 46427.

As far as dying a black top green it would look incorrect. The 70/71 green top is a mixture of black and green. The depression portion of the grain is blackish while the top portion of the grain is green. I have included a sample picture of the green 70/71 top that SMS made for me.

I'm waiting on reply from SMS, but there is only one mill that makes the material & they only have 60' wide. Will not make the 65"
Sms believes theirs is 60" but will check. Thanks to all for your help. Anyone interested in a car, Have 60 K invested in parts so far?
