Hooker Headers

Hey everyone, I ended up with some Hooker Headers over the weekend when I was visiting Summit Racing. Got them for a deal I couldn't pass up. The question though is they are 3 O.D. is that to big to use for my 340 would I be okay with it or is 2.5 a must? It is how it was when it came from the factory in '69 as far as specs except with U 2.02 heads and a mid cam. I plan on using the TTI H Pipe exhaust with it. Thanks for any help with this

not an expert but my quess is it will fall flat on its face with 3"pipes

Awesome just making sure that's what others would do! I wouldn't care as much but I went to Summit Racing this past weekend and saw them on the damaged shelf they have there ( There were two scratches) So they were marked down from 553 to 200 plus another 25% off. I'm not much of a header fan but I'm not going to ever pass up a deal that good.

It will be fine, butting getting 3" exhaust tube is going to eat up your savings.

Personally I would sell them to someone take your profit & buy a better set of headers , those will have limited ground clearance & you will curse them from the day you install them

yea, those are a  PITA to install since the  steering link goes through the headers. I personally have never smashed the three underslung tubes, but I've seen plenty of sets that have had this damage done to them.

x2 been there, done that. They offer hardly any ground clearance and will be crunched pretty quickly.

Well how often is a deal too good to be true really that good ?
 now you know why they were priced so low
