OK. I just removed the 600 CFM Edelbrock from my 73 340 Cuda and replaced it with the original, rebuilt Thermoquad (6340SA).
I think i correctly made all of the required adjustments and the car runs great under normal driving conditions . . . but . . . from a standing start the car falls on its face and dies.
Out on the road I can kick it down and it performs flawlessly. Air/fuel mixture seems to be good. Barely a quiver at idle. Doesn't stall when operating the throttle by hand when in neutral. When the car stalls it starts right up with no issues.
Do you think this might be a metering rod adjustment problem or perhaps the timing? The timing has not been checked with a light. Only set "by ear."
I was planning to take the car to the drag strip (test and tune) Saturday, but can't do it with this problem.
Thanks!
