Just found out that her (my GF Maria) That her Aunt died today. Maria was very close to her since when she was young. We visited them one day when I was in Budapest and she was doing good I thought.

When we were getting ready to leave, Maria started crying. I asked her.. "Whats wrong?" and she replied.
"I know that will probably be the last time I see her.

She just had spoken to her on the phone the other day. Then today, (their time), she was in her chair asleep around noon and then she was gone.

RIP Kati.

My sympathies go out to your girlfriend and her family.

Beautiful pictures. I was in Austria (and several other countries) back in 71, and I'm glad to see that it is still as beautiful as it was back then. IMO, Bavaria was the most beautiful place I have ever seen.

Just curious, did you take note of gas prices over there? When I was there, I took some pictures of gas pumps with the gas at $3.85-$4.50. I brought them home to show my friends, since gas over here was $.27 at the time, and I knew my friends wouldn't believe me. We had a great time joking about it. Little did we know.

I looked at the prices but didn't take any pics. I believe it was about 3.50 a liter to 4?

As Spock would say, "Interesting".

Our gas has gone up by more than a factor of ten, while theirs has not. What does that tell you?

I never did do the conversion rate from liters to gallons and Forints to Dollars so this is just a wild guess.
But overall, Europe gas is higher than U.S. always.

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend's aunt.  That's rough.  It's great you guys got to see her before she passed away.

Thanks for sharing about your trip.  It looks beautiful there.

When I was there, the price was per liter. I'm just saying that if it is the same price per liter today that it was 30 years ago, while ours went up, something just isn't right.

Here's some roads I don't plan on driving if I ever go to any of these places.

Croatia Coastal roads Adriatic Coast roads are narrow, curvy, and congested, and many lack shoulders and guardrails.

FYI since this was posted years ago if you ever have a chance to visit Croatia for the Adriatic coast drive, please do. The road is completely re-done with guardrails, new asphalt etc. Congestion is also gone because in the meantime we built the highways through the whole country so nobody takes those local roads except locals. I live on the northern Adriatic coast so this is first-hand experience.
