Newbie From Central ILL.
« on: December 06, 2015 - 03:57:46 PM »
Hi everyone. Heres a photo of my 70 Challenger R/T I bought in March of 1978. When I got it it was wrecked with 25323 miles on it.

Welcome  Sad that you wrecked a really nice Challenger, so few miles... :walkaway: How did it happen?

Sorry guess I need to phrase that better. I bought it wrecked. A guy in a town south of me had it and let his sons drive it they put fat tires to big for the wheel wells on it and drove like idiots until they drove into something smashing the right front up pretty good. The air shocks failed after that and smashed up the quarters. The dad got madder and madder about it till he finally got to the point he put the car up forsale. A friend of mine knew I wanted one told me about it and I ran over there and bought the car before the dad calmed down. At the time my kids were very small and we was some broke ass people so I put it aside until I could fix the car the way you see it in the photo. I took up auto mechanics, learned auto body repair and painting so I could do the car myself. I am currently redoing the car again as I drive it as often as possible during the warm months. If we go to car shows out of the area it pulls the trailer with our stuff. I even learned powder coating of which turned into a biz so I could do my own parts. Pretty much everything I have done throughout my life except havin kids and liftin weights I did for that car.
