Oklahoma Challenger's.
« on: December 05, 2015 - 10:52:09 PM »
It's finally time to post. My name is Marty.

Hi everyone. I've always liked the E-Bodies. I always regretted letting my 1973 Barracuda go Year's ago and I've halfheartedly been looking for something to replace it ever since. I'm not loyal to any one car manufacture, I like them all but I always missed that Barracuda. My chance finally came a couple of Week's ago. I bought three Challenger's. A 1971, 1973 Rallye and a 1974 Rallye in a package deal. I found them in a building at a farm out in the country in Oklahoma. The gentleman's land is full of Mopar's and early GM's and so is his building. I had no intention to buying anything at the time. I was looking for a customer of mine, but he didn't really have any interest in a package deal, he was looking for just one car, a 1970. One morning I woke up and decided I wanted that 1971. I made a sacrifice and sold my 1973 Corvette and made the deal for the three Challenger's. (No big loss, I have another Vette.)

I know everyone like's picture's and I have plenty of them of my adventure of picking up these Challenger's, so I'll split them up to make it easier to post.

The first Challenger. The 1971. The one I plan to put back together. It's my favorite Challenger Year. It had a 440 with an automatic. It's been stored in his building since 1999. The only rust is in the trunk. Other than that the body is straight and rust free. The interior need's a lot of work but that's not an issue. No tag but someone saved the build sheet or what's left of it. It will be cloned into an R/T eventually.

Stay tuned.
Marty.

Welcome, wow sweet find! Looks like someone started the body/paint then gave up? Assuming that's how you found it? Love the Mustang too!  :2thumbs:

Thank you for the welcome.

That's what it appears to me too. Who ever did the body work if any did a very professional job. I can't find any indication of major work done to the body. The quarter's still have factory undercoating. The paint leave's much to be desired which doesn't make sense with such an excellent body.

Next is the 1974 Rallye.

This Challenger started off as a race car but was never finished. It has a rust free body and was also stored since 1999.  It was a 383 automatic car. The interior was stripped and replaced with aluminum panel's, 8 point roll bar and fiberglass seat's. Disc brake's. Dana rear with a four link suspension and slick's. Fuel cell. Fiberglass hood. Fortunately the Rallye instrument panel stayed in the car. Believe it or not that front tire hold's air.

Wow, what a score! I don't believe a 383 was on offer for a 74 as the 360 was the top engine, or so I'm told- and I have a 74 360. You've got some nice cars there and with some work, you should have your fav, the 71, on the road in good time. What a strange situation to see an apparently rust-free car, with a Freddie Flintstone trunk floor. Congrats and welcome to the site!

Thank you.

You know what????? I believe your right. I must have read the #'s wrong. I'll recheck that. I'm a rookie in the Dodge/Plymouth world and I have a plenty to learn. That's why I'm here. As far as the '71, It will be nice to build a car without having to do a ton of bodywork.

There's more. I took these while the car's were being moved and loaded.

1970 RT/SE. Lot's of options with a 383 automatic.

1970 Convertible 383 automatic.

...and this 1970 hit hard. He said it was a 340 Six-Pack car.

Part of his field.

The hit car could be an A66 340 car but not a 6 pack as it is not a T/A
