Eastwood concours spray gun

Anyone use the Eastwood concours spray gun? Site claims it will run at 4cfm @ 30psi. Seems really low for an hvlp. Can I use this with a 33 gallon 6.8cfm @40psi to primer a whole car without running ahead of the compressor?

Sounds do-able, your biggest enemy is going to be keeping the air Dry with the compressor running...and it will certainly be running. Even with a 60gal compressor mine cycled a time or two with an HVLP painting the interior sheet metal of an ebody.

How is your water separation setup for your compressor? It's very important when painting anything, even more-so for large areas.


Putting a blow gun on, knocking it down to ~40psi and spraying it like you would a gun could give you a reasonable idea of how much air it'll take to actually get paint on the car.

It will work , but it is borderline  .

The more a compressor runs the hotter it gets and water output increases.


If you can get something in the 6hp 60 gallon area it will run less stay cooler  and give you a more consistant air flow.

and the line water will be more manageable.  Line water and oil is the devil

What size compressor? Did you paint the whole car?

Yes I did the whole car. Base/clear. I have an old 5hp 2 stage compressor . Don't know how big the tank is but it's not that big. It's not like your sand blasting or running a sander where you need full pressure and constant air flow so I don't think size is a big issue as long as you can maintain your gun pressure.

I came across LVLP spray guns and have been doing some reading. Some really good results from a grizzly gun that sprays at 3.9 cfm @ 40. They run about 50 on amazon, might try it on a test panel and see how it goes?

Anyone ever use that type of spray gun?
