fuse block
« on: January 26, 2016 - 03:23:33 AM »
hi mopar nation,
I am working on my 70 cuda. under the dash at the bulk head their are two openings. on the bottom of the fuse panel, one is battery one is accessory. When I take a reading from a voltmeter, Battery reads 12.4 volts from my voltmeter, accessory reads 0 volts. With the key in  and in the run position accessory reads 10.4 volts. Reason I was checking voltage at accessary was because I needed to have over twelve volts for electric choke on my Holley double pumper. should the voltage at the accessory be 12.4 volts like at the battery? Or is their Resistance somewhere? If so where can it be? Has anybody ran into this issue before? Help mopar nation!!!! car is 70 cuda 340 engine with pistal grip 4-speed.

Ideally it would be battery voltage & certainly shouldn't be loosing 2-volts.  Any connection or wire could be the culprit but I'd be most suspect of the wide flat connector at the steering column, this connector seems to have more than it's share of issues. Check voltage at larger red wire which feeds power into the column, check for corrosion or signs of overheating, clean all the connections, make sure their secure in the plug and apply dielectric grease. When pushed together make sure none slip out.

For your choke consider tapping the blue wire that connects to the ballast in the ignition circuit on the firewall

:iagree:  Tap the blue wire, it's the best method, but you should check the low voltage on the accessory nevertheless.
