Well the prices won't go down as long as there are idiots like myself buying a 45-year-old Mopar in a country which has maybe a handful of similar cars, where the parts are impossible to get (except orders from the US of course), none of the mechanics has done any work on those cars and the sound of large displacement American V8 is heard as often as seeing unicorns crossing the street. 

BTW muscle cars will never go out of fashion, not because they are better than what was produced in other countries in that era, but because of the image they carry. It is timeless and ALWAYS cool.

Well I am a young boomer born in 60 & the Best vehicle I could buy new  the day I got my licence was a Warlock / Midnite Express with a 440 but I did buy a 70 Challenger R/T 440 4spd  for $1200 used

Lot of good points expressed about this subject, I believe there's a little truth in all of them but also believe that many will continue to pursue the passion handed down. My vehicles will go to my children and or grandchildren. They're not anxious for me to depart but look forward to getting the prize at the end!    So with that said, also believe these beautiful muscle cars from our generation will continue to be some of the most desired and prices will just flatten out and stabilize for many years.

I'm 25 and have a job that pays enough for me to have a 70 challenger restomod project.  I put a lot of $ into it but also have only been married 2 years. All cars are paid off, no kids, not a home owner.

I'll always have an old Mopar as long as I can afford it. I would love a modern hemi swap but I don't know how to build the new stuff. Nothing is as cool and simple as a true muscle car era vehicle.  They'll always be around but I bet prices will drop when one day we're all that's left.  Thank god for the Internet and places like this, I don't know where I would get the expert knowledge from

Well around here all the good cars are gone/not for sale. All that is left is the pigs with lipstick. If you have a solid car don't be temped to sell it as you will pay through the nose to replace it.  I can see the 60-67 cars not being worth much as time goes on, but the 68-71 Mopar , Ford and GM muscle cars will always be in demand. The younger crowd just can't afford then....yet.  What I wonder is will they at some point out law them in the name of saving the earth etc.... I hope I'm dead before that happens or it's not going to be pretty!

I can see it going two ways.  There are a lot of car guys in the younger generation.  Most of my friends are car guys, we all want old muscle cars for the most part.  We are just now getting to the point of being able to afford them. (well the crappy ones anyway)  Now some will never get there, kids, families, other things will get in the way.  Some of us will get there and we'll buy what we can.  So I don't see the price of the cars just cratering so to speak.  However the financials of it all do worry me a bit because let's be honest my generation and the one after me are going to be stuck cleaning up the baby boomer mess.  I don't mean any offense by that and I don't want to get political but the boomers ran up an enormous tab and said "here kids go pay for it please."  So we are going to have to have higher taxes, make less wages, have more debt in schooling, and some of us will have to support our parents who didn't bother saving for retirement.  This means things are going to be tighter for my generation.  That's fine, whatever we'll deal with it but "luxury" goods to my generation will be things like video games, phones, and the like that are hot now because most will be able to afford those.  Cars though, that's tougher.  Sure cars for transportation to work will be a no brainer but having that second or third car just for weekend fun is going to be something most in my generation will never know.  They just simple won't have that luxury. 

Still, there are some of us that will have the luxury and we are going to buy.  Oddly enough and maybe it's because I'm kind of a working/middle class guy, but none of my friends really want the high end collector cars.  I mean sure a Hemi Cuda would be awesome, but most of us want a car we can modify and work on.  I can actually see the day when some of the more collector car prices sag a bit while the drivers and projects of the world hold stronger because that's what we want, and that's what we can afford.  You'd never buy a numbers matching hemi Cuda and go blasting down the backroad, but you sure the heck would a 340 non numbers matching car you made your own.  I can almost envision a big of a squeezing of the prices if you will.  The bottom comes up and the top comes down. 

I hope I'm wrong and I hope the bottom falls out, you just for my own selfish reasons.

My opinion is they will overall stagnate in pricing for the ones the masses can afford. As said owning them is a labor of love. As the percentage of kids growing up that have never even touched a wrench increases there will be less that have an interest.  Lots may want but will never take the leap because without mechanical experience any and all repairs/modifications will have to be performed by a shop. Leading to an expense most will not be able to justify.
Add in the fact that you cannot beat the new car convenience.
There will always be enough wealthy people that will pay too much for the low number rare cars.
So those will stay up there.

Exactly why I think the restomods with modern drive trains will increase in value.

Everyone has there niche when it comes to cars. Some like original and some like rare then there are the guys like me who like to improve on the engineering to make it my own ride. Every body who even puts a aftermarket muffler or even floor mats do because they love there ride no matter what brand it is and if they can't even admit it. If a person does not care about there ride then they would not even wash it or change the oil.
