Painting dilemma...
« on: January 27, 2016 - 07:10:12 AM »
Ok, so for years now I have been working on my 1970 Barracuda Gran Coupe, slowly picking away at it and converting it into a mild restomod. 5.7 Hemi swap, modern bucket seats, 18" wheels on beefed up suspension, US Car Tool body stiffening, hydroboost brakes and other tidbits.

My original plan was to paint the car Honda Hot rod yellow pearl (gold wing motorcycle color). However, after attending the New Orleans Mopar car shows as well as Cruisin the Coast down in Biloxi, MS and seeing yellow Barracudas, I just don't think it's the right color for me.

As the time ticks down to paint and body, I have really been leaning towards my staple car color (have owned 5 of my last 6 vehicles in Patriot blue/navy blue).

Then again, my car's factory color, FY4 Citroen Mist, has some appeal as well. This is mostly because I have never seen nor heard of an AAR in that factory color, even though it was an option. The sister car, TA Challengers did have a few built in that color combo, and they are stunning.

I would like to field opinions, good and bad, from you all.

I like the color of the second picture. Custom car deserves a custom color. Just my thoughts.

I think FY4 would look sweet on an AAR!  If you have had a bunch of blue cars, and don't like what you see on the yellow cars, FY4 is the direction I would go.

There is a pic here on the thread you started couple years ago.  http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=93171.0

I like the contrast of the lighter color with the black top, hood and stripes ... but then again I think the chrome "pops" better with the darker color.  :dunno:  Maybe a slightly lighter shade of blue  :thinkerg:  something like B7 Jamaica-Blue? Yeah, that's it - B7 Jamaica-Blue - that color is sweet!
Cheers!

Our cars looks great in any color, but it's such a personal preference when it comes to deciding... I like the bluish picture, not found of the FY4, to dull looking for me, I like sharp colors. I have the same dilemma myself, black, burnt orange, go mango of red is my choises.

Personally I wouldn't do the FY4 but colour is such a personal choice. I really like the blue Cuda but I can understand why you don't want to do another one. How about that granite colour sort of like FY4 that came on Mustangs about 10 years ago?
