drum measurements?
« on: February 04, 2016 - 05:02:22 AM »
ok. i'm finalizing my parts list(s) so i can get to putting stuff back on my 67 cuda....but i've never done this before and want to be as sure as possible that i'm doing it right.
when ordering a new drum hardware kit, what size am i looking for?
i have 10" drums (rear). the inside width of the drum is 2" but the old shoes measure 1-3/4".
do i order by inside drum measure (10x2) or drum/shoe measure (10x 1-3/4)? because i see that both are available and i'm not sure.

Are you replacing the shoes if so I would order everything for the 10x2" , if you are not replacing the shoes order for the 1 3/4 width

so if i'm replacing everything: drums, shoes, hardware...i'd just order 10x2 drums and 2" shoes or 10x1.75 drums and 1.75" shoes. is that correct? just make sure drums match shoes...is there a reason i had 10x2 drums but the smaller shoes, or were they just the wrong parts to start?

Same drum I believe just less surface area with the smaller shoes
if you can resurface the drums & reuse them I would do that  , if you change to 4.5" bolt pattern in the future the drums will be junk anyway
