I am installing a 505 stroker in my E-Body soon with Dougs headers. I have heard that it is easier to put the drivers side header on the motor prior to installing it. Has anyone done this before?

Are you going in from under the car? I don't think it will fit with either header on going in from the top.

if your putting the engine in from the bottom you can completely dress the engine. The covers look pretty tall so you may need to remove one. Best way is from the bottom.
