PCV air/oil separator
« on: February 13, 2016 - 01:28:37 AM »
Been about 5 months since I checked what has been collected
in my homemade air/oil separator, placed in my PCV line.
Got about 1/2 cup of oil.  Which is kinda a lot, and would have
otherwise gone into the intake.  I also have the 3/8 PCV line narrowed
down to 1/4 inch, to minimize oil being sucked up into the intake.
Recommend installing one of these, if you haven't.  The baffles under
my valve cover are about as good as they are gonna get, I think.

I believe that it's possible that by reducing the diameter of your hose this may actually aggravate the problem.
The same volume of air being constricted will have higher velocity & may actually be sucking more oil... theory anyway.

Good point, but the restiction is near the center of the 3/8 hose, so
the 3/8 hose is still attached to the valve cover.
LS1 engines had a big problem sucking oil, and the fix was to install
a restiction that is only about a tenth of an inch in diameter.
