Unfortunately money is always an issue.     In working on the harness's was able to remove each pin in the 8 pin connectors clean them first with baking soda and vinegar, and then lightly sandpaper them.    This seemed to correct all of the corrosion issues for "circuits" that lacked the connectivity.   

Now the issues are deciphering all of the connections.   Still a mistery are the connections for the "seat belt interlock" switch and the wires for them.   I have ordered the 74 body service manual thru rock auto, and hope when it comes in that the wiring diagrams will make more sense.   I have a feeling that the Interlock systems were disabled a long time ago, making the wiring "not stock".   

I still have 3 main problems:
1) the red connector  I labeled G3 in the picture after tracing is indeed the Positive coil connector!!  However coming off of it is the "H".   This looks like a capacitor to me, and the large end on it looks like a Ground connection maybe to go under an intake manifold bolt.    However, I cant find it there is no reference to it on the 74 wiring diagram from mymopar.com listed in one of the replies.   So, THis is a big guess as to where it gthere is NO reference to it on the wiring diagram.   oes. 

2) The "G" connector..tracing the wires goes to a side on the 4 pin resistor block.   Im still not sure where it goes, but is it possible that this goes to the Choke Heater??    If not then I cant find a wire for that.   Diagram shows that there is an electronic choke control...   However, advance auto, oreilleys, autozone, napa and rock auto do not list one !!   But it is on the diagram.   Is it possible that the choke control shown on the diagram is "built in" to the choke heater?

3) The I2 connector looks like it "should be" for one of the two fld connections on the alternator based on the other wires around it.   That would make sense...   However, in carefully tracing the wire and testing it ends up in the Pin 24 of the bulk head connector.   A 73 layout of the bulk head connector says that is for the "brake warning lamps" which makes no sense at all.   Hmmm     

Other than those problems i think i have it figure out.

the G connector could indeed go tot he choke, I thought the same thing when looking at wiring diagrams. I would Google 72-74 Cuda or Mopar engines and see what pictures I could find of stock engine compartments and see what else I could tell from that.

Well it turns out that the wiring diagrams there for a 74 challenger have several "mistakes" in them, especially dealing with wire colors.   Also, they didn't have any bulkhead connector layouts there.   The one in the 73 body manual on line at mymopar also has several differences than what a 74 would have.   Most of the changes are all dictated by the 1974 seatbelt interlock wiring, and switches.   So, if you have a 74 dont try using the bulkhead connector and other diagrams from the 73 body manual that is available free online at mymopar.   

So, I ended up buying from Rock Auto a Bishkio 1974 chassis body service manual thru rock auto.  (they advertise that they got the rights to reprint the original manuals from chrysler.   In this manual the bulkhead disconnect diagrams and labels all seem to agree with my color of wires in the connectors and it is now making a lot more sense.    I am going thru all of the wiring now...

Using the diagrams in the Bishko manuals, I think I got 95% of the wiring identified and hooked up.   I was able to start the engine and run her, with the connections I have.    I might still need some help in "bypassing" all of the seatbelt interlock crap..  Especially since I am missing the original lap belts.

After studying the diagrams, im going to bypass the seat belt interlock issue the simple way.   Redirecting the ground wire from the transmission Park switch directly to the starter relay ground post.   That will do it.

In consideration of buying new harnesses, are there preferred sources?  Does anyone known the difference between Classic vs Year One?  others?  I'm planning to replace all my harnesses, and I see constant discounts from Classic (typical 15-20-25% pending the date and expense).

I have bought harnesses from both, I tend to like the Y1 (at the time I bought one), however the differences are minor.
