'72 TV Challenger Update
« on: June 07, 2005 - 10:35:01 PM »
As a few of you know (it HAS been a long time since I posted an update), I'm still working on shooting a TV Show pilot of my 72 Challenger getting redone.  We are not going to the level of detail that most of you are on your projects (my mouth is still watering watching Rev's updates).  We are just getting the car to a "Driver" status and part of the story is how the guys are doing the work (sometimes kind of unorthodox!)  None the less, today, for the first time I've owned the car over the last three years, it actually has a real color on it!!!

If I've learned anything in this process, it is NEVER try to shoot a TV show about restoring a car if it is YOUR CAR and you're funding the show, video equipment, AND the work out of your pocket.  Also, don't try buying a house during this process.  I've also learned that as soon as you commit to a 250 mile roundtrip just to work on the car gas prices will invariably go over $2.00 a gallon.  Other than that and trying to make a living on the side, its been fun!  I've learned a lot just lurking around here (now that I'm on stupidly slow dial-up again since I can't get broadband in the new house).

I'm currently working on editing all the video down to a single 30 minute show to shop around.  The old stuff can still be seen here:  Real Restorations Television  I'll be updating the website after I get some new clips to post.

Thanks for all the great comments!

I think they are planning on painting the trunk lid and the hood at the same time.  We still have "issues" with the trunk torsion bars.  They were missing when I bought the car, and I have bought two sets off ebay since then.  Unfortunately, I think both sets were for the wrong year.  Also still need to grab some rubber trunk seal/weatherstrip.
