Starter Relay
« on: June 18, 2015 - 04:24:20 PM »
Could someone please attach some pics of the wiring on the inner drivers side fender? I am putting together a '72 Challenger for a friend and need to know what the wire routing looks like around the starter relay.

I also see in the Shop Manual wiring diagram that there is an 18 gauge Green wire (Manual 4 Speed Trans) that connects to one of the lower terminals on the starter relay and goes to the instrument panel manual transmission clutch start switch.  Where is this located? On the back of the instrument panel? I have no idea! Is this wire in the engine bay harness? The wiring diagram does not show it going through the bulkhead.

Thanks!  :clapping:

There's a switch on the clutch pedal that has a single green wire....it goes through the firewall and plugs into that starter relay wire  :2cents:
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Ok, I found the green wire from the clutch pedal. It goes through the firewall and has a male bullet terminal on the end of it. I guess I will have to make a short wire with a female bullet connector and a female spade connector to complete the connection to the starter relay.

I also found a round grommet behind the brake pedal with two wires going through it into the engine bay about 16-18" long. There is a green wire and a blue wire and both have female spade connectors on the end of them.  Any ideas what these wires are for?   :pullinghair:

Thanks!

Could anyone please post one or more pics of the drivers side inner fender where the positive battery cable runs down to the starter and the wires that attach to the starter relay?

Thanks!

And that switch provides a ground for the relay to start the engine only if the clutch pedal is depressed.  :2cents:
