Local cruise in.
« on: June 09, 2005 - 09:27:41 AM »
Stopped at a "Steak & Shake" last night cause I saw some old cars and hot rods.  Only 2 Mopars, but we were represented well.  No, I didn't have my camera with me.  :banghead:  Anyway, one was a 69 Road Runner 440-6 with air grabber, completely restored, orange.  The other was a 1970 AAR Cuda, looked like a survivor to me, Original Vitamin C paint, Pistol Grip, window sticker, build sheet etc.  Nothing else there was in their league.

Neat!  My impression is the cruise scene is much more active in northern states that it is here (in Florida).  There are a couple of small informal car nights around town, but nothing to brag about.  I'm going to the Hot Rod Power Tour in Kissimmee tomorrow.  I expect to see some nice cars there!

It's been raining since yesterday afternoon here.  Some tropical depression in the gulf.  Likely to rain all day today too.  I'm still going and will try to get some pictures.

The big attraction about this for me is these guys are DRIVING these cars hundreds of miles.  No trailer queens here!

 I'd say that kind of weather in a rather regular fashion would certainly dampen the idea of shows and cruise ins, that would be a bummer for sure. We live near what is called the tri-state area of Ohio, W.Va, and Pa. shows every weekend and cruise nights during the week. One more popular DJ here has well over 100 bookings this year and is still getting calls, hard to be in two places at once, lol. It's a lot of fun,............move to Ohio during the summer, lol.

The amount of rain we've been getting is unusual.  Normally, only a small shower each afternoon during the summer.  Should return back to normal after the depression is over.

But even in the winter when the weather is wonderful, there still aren't many shows.  Just not as much interest, I guess.   :dontknow:
