70 barracuda project
« on: November 18, 2015 - 11:06:50 PM »
Backstory.  Here are the pics as rescued... nearly 16 years ago.  I did disassemble the car and neutralize any rust prior to buttoning it up for so long. Thankfully, work has changed and I will be moving home near enough to the farm to get restarted on this project.  All i've done is research and buy parts since I bought the car!  Well... I did help my dad restore his 72 Challenger... and get a 72 charger running we pulled from a junkyard... but mostly thats about it.

318 auto lime light car, tag packed in my stuff at home and I won't get a chance to update that for a few months.  Modified by 2nd owner for a 340 4speed.  I still have all the original parts and the plan, currently is a 340-6 4sp shaker car in B5.  I have most of the big ticket parts to complete the build except for a shaker... Just need the time and the cash for all the little bits and pieces as well as a couple trim pieces.

This is going to be a slow starter build thread, but once it gets going it should run pretty fast.  Probably have some decent updates over the next year or so.

Cool ride!  A BH limelight.
Looks to have had a white interior originally, maybe.
Can't wait to read that fender tag.  I can just make out the tag in one of the pictures. Still painted lime light.

Did the car retain a build sheet?

I know your not going with what is on the tag and build sheet, I'm just curious as what the original car was.

Glad to see a thread on getting the car going !!

at to the "slow" aspect, that is pretty prevalent in the hobby and especially on this site. Remember it is a hobby and not a business, do it for fun, therapy, whatever but do it your way.

No build sheet.   :(  I assume those disappeared when those killer seats were put in.

I am back in the state.  We shall see if I end up getting to work on anything soon.  Body work may commence this year depending on my schedule.

Great to hear it!

That's one cool color for a ride. Green with black guts.

What color are you planning on the body color.

Cool car.  Given that the car is an original FJ6 car I personally would keep that color as it is a rare high impact color and a cool color at that.  Don't get me wrong, B5 is a nice color as well but not as cool as FJ6 in my opinion.

At the end of the day it is your car so make sure you go with whatever color you like the best.

Thanks. It was a good looking car when new.

B5 has always been my favorite.  In my mind, green needs a hemi in it, and I don't think that is going to happen.  I will likely stick with a 340 of some flavor, although long term I might put a new model hemi into it if I find a used 6.1 or 6.4 cheap.

If I were going to bring the car to an original state, I would be concerned about maintaining originality and color.  As I am not putting a 318 2v with low line gauges in it, I don't see a reason to do that.
