Martin Senour Paint Quality ?
« on: March 31, 2016 - 07:38:55 PM »
I found a real good painter who does real nice work at a resonable price.  he says he'll use whatever paint I want but he prefers Martin Senour , he doesn't believe the others are enough better to warrant the cost after years of experience.  I've seen a car he painted with it 15 years ago and it still looks nice.

I've always considered Martin Senour   to be Walmart quality crap. so I've paid the bucks for PPG and Glasurit.  .

Any experiences  or opinions?

Never heard the WalMart comparison before but I used Martin paint on all the vehicles I have painted and never had an issue. This is the paint that our local NAPA carries. It could be that your painter is more experienced with Martin products so he prefers to stay with what he knows. I mean, you could pay even more for House of Kolor if you just want to say "My car is painted with....................."!!

I used Martin Senour I bought from NAPA. It went on well but within a few years it started to fade. I washed and waxed it regularly but the paint did not hold up well. I now use HOK and am very impressed with the quality and coverage the paint has shown so far :2cents:.

Cannot attest for the paint quality but will note that every current paint has been regulated to different formulations than was available 15 plus years ago.
They may have been on top of their game with old formulas and missed the mark on regulated changes.

Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

Well if there's no more horror stories than that maybe it's okay.  my cars are never outside unless they're getting driven the 100 miles a year they get. so durability isn't an issue.  just looks.
