Ok, I'm a dumb ass. .. so evidently you can't just swap the ammeter for a volt meter. Took out the volt meter and connect the two wire and the dome light came on... what a relief Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
I swapped the amp gauge for a volt gauge. I am switching to a one wire alt so I changed it out. All i did was switch the gauge out and used the same + and - wires that the amp gauge was connected to. Did I mess something up?no all new add ons are using a separate fuse panel and relays on its own switch

Hmmm. That would not work. Connect both wires that were on your amp gauge to the +ve post on your volt gauge, then connect the other post of your volt meter to ground. You will then be good.
Voltage = wired in parallelCurrent = wired in seriesJust like when you're using your multimeter Also,I would put the voltmeter on switched power not the wire previously used on the ammeter gauge
