Classic 70 Challenger tail light parts?
« on: April 14, 2016 - 10:51:40 PM »
I'm looking at picking up the tail light lens and bezels for my 70 Challenger.
Any experience with the quality/fit of the parts from Classic?

I bought mine from Roseville.   I was very happy with how they looked.

Okay...So last week I learned that AMD will not have any 850-2570-2 trunk lids in stock for at least 90 days. The fine folks at AMD gave me a list of their distributors that actually stock items and may have one in stock....
Literally, after calling a half dozen places and checking on the internet...I found one at Classic Industries.

Not one to be fooled by on line "in stock ready to ship" quotes....I picked up the phone and gave them a call asking to double check that they indeed have one in stock and to confirm it was an AMD piece and not Goodmark or something else.
The guy on the phone assured me they had one, but couldn't confirm it was AMD.

So I gambled on the fact it might be AMD based on the price and placed an order on line. While doing that, their web site could not quote me a shipping price to Canada, only said TBD, however wanted my VISA number to continue, in which I did.

Right away I get and email and now the shipping says $175.....Once I get my head around that, I was just happy to find a trunk lid.

The very next day I get an email stating the shipping is now $390 and if I wanted to proceed I had to sign the form and fax it back. Instead I picked up the phone to complain and they said that was the price if I wanted it shipped to Canada...and that did NOT include brokerage or taxes at the border. So I put the order on hold so I could stew for the weekend....

Called about six more places and still couldn't find a trunk lid....
Called Classic back, placed the order, my VISA was dinged immediately for about $1100 CDN and I was sent a tracking number, but it hadn't moved yet.

Two nights ago, Classic phones to say while they were "picking" my order they realized they DID NOT have one in stock and said they could give me one without spoiler cut-outs OR they would place my order on "back order" for possibly 10 days until they can get one.....Total BS, because AMD won't have them for 90 days.....

This was very stressfull trying to wrap my head around the price, stewing on it for days, biting the bullet.....then finding out the arseholes don't even frickin have one :swear:

I ending up buying one with-out the cut-outs for $400 CDN and I'll have Keith make the cut-outs or I'll just go with out them altogether

That sucks.  ive only placed one with them but will probably avoid them for future parts, just like Jims Auto Farts.

 :swear: Here's the frickin kisser.....
From the time Classic charged my VISA until seven days later when they refunded my VISA.....our CDN dollar exchange rate got worse (or better depending on how you look at it) AND I LOST $78 frickin dollars on the deal :stomp: :stomp: :stomp: :stomp: :banghead:

PG Classic has a nice set of rear tail light bezels and lenses. They came with all the gaskets and fittings.

Thx for the input, I'll probably go that route when they have a sale or free shipping.
They have a COMPLETE kit, where everyone else makes you piecemeal it together.
Even without any discount PG is at least $100 cheaper than anywhere else.
I can't imagine there's more than 1 manufacturer of these, just different mark ups.

There was a second manufacturer but his bezels weren't cast, they were CNC cut out of billet.... Absolute works of art... And since at the time he was the only supplier his price for bezels only was close to $1000...  So when the Chinese repos came along initially in the $400 range the super nice ones disappeared...
