1970 Shaker setup
« on: June 24, 2016 - 01:16:10 PM »
I have a 1970 'Cuda, 440-4 barrel with a Shaker option.  I have had this car many years and it was in pieces when it was acquired. I'm having trouble sorting out the assembly of the baseplate. Specifically, where do the support feet attach to the engine?  I have two straight slotted brackets. I assume the slot end is held in place by the L shaped bracket on the bottom of the baseplate, where do the other ends go?  A picture would be great.  Thanks

The long straight slotted brackets are for a 340. Your 440 should have two "L" shaped legs that rest on your valve covers.
The welded brackets on your base plate should be on the sides. If they're on the front you have a 340 base plate too... :2cents:

The angled brackets are on the sides, a little inboard of the edge. They look spotwelded like original.  So I have no doubt this is a 440-4 barrel baseplate.  It seems these straight brackets are correct as on a 440-4 barrel engine they rest on the intake manifold near the heads. Why the six-pack and 4 barrel are different is anyones guess.  Chrysler did some strange thing back then.
