Removing micro pitting from chrome?

Hello,

Is there any way to remove very fine pitting on chrome? The bumpers are covered with them. Would 0000 steelwool work for these, or are they too far gone?

Pitting is pitting. Small craters in the chrome/nickel/copper finish. Can't really polish out pits.

The bumper will have to be stripped, then they belt sand it. Then re chromed.
Mine had some minor surface rust and came out pretty good.

It can be done however there could be waves depending how deep corrosion is.

take some aluminum foil and crumple it up in a small ball. spray some water on the bumper and sand with the foil.  Try a small area.    Wont last long. But you can do it again.

The car is a project and rechroming would be too costly for it (at least for now). I'll try the aluminum foil method and see if it helps.
