Hello From Central Coast California.
« on: May 25, 2016 - 06:40:53 PM »
Hello All . I have to say , I couldn't wait to get accepted into this forum. Looks like alot of correct knowledge is here. I have been a mopar man all my life. which started with a 1967 Dodge Polara W/ 1969 440 magnum running gear from a C.H.P (Cali. Highway Patrol).

I am now the driving a 1972 Challenger Rallye  the color is Honeydew . All factory A/C car and the clock still works.

I am going to be researching the following things

1. Do i have a left over 71 motor in my 72.

2. did the color combinations change when JS23 Rallye was ordered.

3. repair the factory tach

I know all of this information is here any points to the right direction would be great

Welcome to Cuda Challenger

It is possible to have a earlier block for sure from Ma Mopar. I have a ribbed 440 block cast in 1969 but was dropped into a 1970 model year vehicle. 1st letter on the engine data plate Was zero meaning 1970 vehicle.

It should have you vin data number but a 2 stamped at the beginning. Cast date on the side would say 71.

I am in Paso Robles.  I did learn that 4 months into 1972 they were still using the 1971 motor .   my build date is 6/23/72 I thought I may have gotten lucky.
