Air Cleaner Decals? Yea or Nay?
« on: May 22, 2016 - 01:22:19 PM »
I switched Air Cleaners from the Stock Round 340 Air Cleaner to a 340/440 style Oval Air Cleaner.
It is a PG Classics Repop and I had to cut it down to clear my hood. I don't think it is an exact copy of the originals...
I still love the look though.

Decals? Yea or Nay?
340 Magnum off EBay and the 'Cuda decal I made at Zazzle.com.
I had to stretch the original Cuda image as it would not have been long enough. I also edited some of the colors a little.

  • Leave it plain
  • Little Air Filter Decal Only
  • Air Filter Care and 340 Magnum only
  • Air Filter Care, 340 Magnum and 'Cuda
With

Without

Original Air Cleaner is going in a box and put away.

I usually like more and flashy, but I think I like the plain one best.  So number 2 for me.

Go with #4. If it gets too blinding, you can always scale back. :woohoo:

Done deal.
I wonder how it would look on a matte black lid and a black wrinkle finish base... :clueless:
Maybe next year...
I found another Cuda image that I want to try too.  :ylsuper:

Where does one find an oval air cleaner for a 340 that's not a 6 pack?

It's just a single 4bbl base plate designed for 383 and 440 B Bodies with N96 :2cents:

The Original Mopar 440 4bbl AC is the same as the 340 4bbl AC but I have found that the reproductions from PG Classics are not exact reproductions... They are the only ones making these as far as I know. You can find originals on EBay but you will pay $$$

I had to cut it down to fit. I cut about 3/4"-1" off the throat and cut out some of the top bar with the studs for the lid to clearance the air horns and butterfly.
1/2 day at most... Rotozip!
Full disclosure, I am running a QF carb and LD340 intake so it could be taller than stock intake and carb...

Don't get the 383 4bbl version.
The 383 4bbl version is even taller because the 383 is shorter than the 340 and 440.
