Hotchkis LCA pivot shaft question
« on: June 04, 2016 - 12:43:53 PM »
I'm changing out the old suspension components with Hotchis stuff. I also welded  stiffing plates to the LCA's and changed out the bushings and pivot shafts with the Hotchkis #3006 Pivot Shaft Kit. I have the LCA's all assembled and I'm putting them back on the car. Imagine my surprise when the new Hotchkis pivot shaft is to small in diameter for the mounting hole. WTF, the hole is about .93 ID and the pivot shaft is about .8 OD. The package they sent me is listed with the right numbers. I called them but they are not open on weekends. Has anyone had this problem?

They supplied the bushings & the shafts?  The .93 is the ID of the bushing? & the .8 is the O/D of the shaft where the bushing rides?  I have no parts here so this is just a guess, Std rubber bushings have an inner sleeve made of steel, it probably has an O/D of .93 & an ID of .8.... So next you'll discover the bushing OD is smaller the the hole in the control arm... Again the steel sleeve from a stock bushing would take up the space...  Surprised Hotchkis would get that wrong but it sure seems like they did...

Looks like you have to reuse your old inner and outer steel bushings.

It looks like they gave me A-Body pivot shafts. Not sure if the bushings are the same until I talk to them.
