Alternator single groove pulley
« on: June 06, 2016 - 12:51:22 AM »
Would anyone be able to confirm that this alternator pulley is the same type of pulley used on 71 383s?

you could go to people that sell orig stuff, like Year One, then compare their picture
to that picture.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I've checked places like YearOne but they don't seem to carry the pulley.  They sell the alternator with the single groove pulley but not the pulley itself.

as far as I know...it is  very very difficult to change the pulley... sometimes nearly impossible.

Perhaps that is the reason  the pulleys are not sold seperatly ?

The pulley should come right off with the proper puller.  Just go to a local salvage yard.  They probably have a huge pile of alternators.  It shouldn't be hard to find a Chrysler alternator with a single groove pulley.  They'd probably sell the entire alternator for $5.
