Ozarks anyone?
« on: June 06, 2016 - 09:54:36 PM »
Im trying to get my act together to make some plans to stay in the Ozarks in Missouri and Arkansas during the last week in June.  I plan on driving my motorcycle with my girlfriend on the back for 6 days.  Does anybody have any recommendations for places to go, lodging, food, fishing, ultimate riding roads, or fun little places to go visit during day trips?  I was wanting to stay in the Norfork Lake or Bull Shoals area.  Should I stay on the lake or get mountain view?  I would like to rent a boat for a day just to cruise around on the water.  Any marina recommendations?  I don't know much about the area, any info would be great.  Im not into being where everyone else is.  Cool out of the way places are better than a resort with kids and people around. Thanks  J

EUREKA SPRINGS rocks!! But I like that entire NW corner. I love cruising the back roads, although I must say BE AWARE if you do. Anyway. Fayetteville is fun, so is Beaver lake.

NW Arkansas is my favorite place in the world to ride, so many good motorcycle roads. Hwy 23 to Eureka springs is a great one. Hwy 14, Hwy 7, Hwys 43, 21, 74 through the Buffalo River Valley are all primo. I can't think of a bad one. There is an old mill south of  Rogers and Beaver Lake called War Eagle Mill, worth the time and good riding to and from don't care what direction. Wish I were going.
Enjoy.

So I am planning on procuring lodging tonight.  I want to be near Bull Shoals, or Norfork Lake.  I don't have any real rationale for that though.  I plan on taking a day for boating/fishing.  I am going to do a couple of day trips on the motorcycle too.  I checked out the roads K mentioned.  I will be doing most of them at some point.  I will have to get a feel for the area to see if I make it to Eureka Springs related to how long it takes to get around.  I have been warned that the trees come up to the side of the road.  And since I am not familiar with the area, and I will be riding two up with gear, I will definitely keep my speed in check. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
This will be my first vacation with my girlfriend, and her first vacation on a motorcycle.  First day will be St.Louis for BBQ ribs.  Most likely Poppys.  Then down to the Ozarks for 4 days.  I dont want to wreck her desire to ride with me if I overdo it and push too hard.  I have to keep the girl happy too.  I cant wait to get out and ride!!!

All you gotta do is keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down and everything else will take care of it self. I'm envious, wish I was riding the Ozarks again. Instead, I'll make do with the Sierras this weekend.
