small block with hooker comp headers.
« on: June 25, 2016 - 04:23:15 PM »
Ok so I have a striker small block with eddy alum. Heads and hooker comp headers on it.  Currently have msd street fire straight boot plug wires.  They have melted and ground to the headers now. I did get some of the socks to cover them. But I'm going to get new wires now.  Looking at accel 9002 wires with ceramic boots.  But I'm not sure what boots to get 90 or 135.  Any one have thoughts, opinions, or suggestions.

I would recommend Firecore 8.5mm wires.

Im a little unclear on what you are saying,,,   Are the boots or wires melting?  If its the wires, your only choice is to route and hang them so they dont touch.   I have run every make of wires out there, and if they touch, they will melt, even with boots

If its the boots, get the accel ceramic boots:   They will do the trick, I run them, and they are the only thing that works.   As you found out, socks dont work, they didnt for me either.

As for the angle, you'll have to decide on that.  Typically though, 90 degree boots will get you the clearance you need on all cylinders.
