I have respect for imports, even though I dont really care for them. I have zero respect for ricers.

The 300Z is a really nice car. In the new Fast & Furious movie, the 300Z has the fastest 1/4 mile of all the cars in the movie. Faster than the old Mustang as well. Mustang was #2. :)

The only Jap car I respect is a Godzilla (Nissan Skyline) Banned in the US for too much hp.
1000hp capable is a great effort from where ever you stand, if you don't agree, you kidding yourself.  :smokin:

Banned for too much hp?  I've never heard of that before.  Banned for not meeting US emission and crash standards, sure.  But banned for too much hp?  What exactly is the hp limit?

I must be looking at the wrong Nissan Skyline,  ( under 300hp )  Unless you mean the R34 Z-tune, which is a hand built unit, not a typical Nissan production car.  Given $175K you can get that kind of HP out of a Rambler.

not that it matters too severly but, Japan caps its vehicles with a 276hp limit. Therefore you look at Supras, Skylines, NSX's, etc they all have 276hp. In reality the Skyline makes around 320 whp stock. Engine can make upwards of 800hp on stock factory internals....not too bad. I have a friend here in Wisconsin making 600whp with only aftermarket cams internally....oh and an 88mm turbo lol. This is all out of a 2.6litre I-6

we dont have an import limit on HP that i ever heard of...  I agree with aloha. Exmple- the first gen VW beetles .. not the front engine ones. Were produced in south america for decades after not being sold here... Emission & Crash standards!!  :grinyes:

From what i've read the US seems to have some pretty tough emission requirements. Tough enough atleast that the US BMW M3 / M Roadsters took a power cut to meet emissions...

As i'm looking at parking a M Roadster next to the 'Cuda, i'm glad we get the full power Euro version here in Oz :)
