How much epoxy primer?
« on: March 30, 2015 - 07:45:48 PM »
Will be using SPI epoxy primer.  Mixed at a 1 to 1 ratio. How much primer will it take to spray the entire shell of a 70 Challenger?  The interior, underside, hood and trunk is included.

For a primer, I would recommend at least a 12pack of Samuel Adams original. I would guess at least 4 gallons. :smokin: :grinyes: :dogpile:

A gallon didn't quite make it for me, had to buy a second.  This was entire chassis, and all panels, both sides, two coats

It depends on who's product you use and the reduction ratio, but my car has consumed just over 1 gallon of primer @ 4:1. The Valspar product I've been using lately is much superior to the Pro Form I had initially and is also 4:1 as high build or 4:1:1 as a sealer. It has a very short pot life of about 20-30 minutes as high build and 30-45 as a sealer. Clean your gun immediately regardless of who's product you use. Good luck.
