On the TA rocker shaft, where does the notch face? Towards the front or back of the engine?

Each faces down so the oil holes of the shaft will also face down into the rockers.

On all stock small block rocker shafts...the notch in the end of the shaft goes "down" and to the FRONT on the drivers side, "down" and to the REAR on the passengers side.
