Ground problem
« on: August 21, 2016 - 05:15:10 PM »
I have a weird ground problem with my right  front parklamp. First I thought it was the bulb....  no. Then Figuring the housing was not grounding to the body properly. I cleaned the snot off all the contact surfaces / dielectric grease..... no. The problem seems to be in the way the bulb socket mates to the housing. This appears to me to be a sealed connection. If I lean on the harness at the connection the "right" way I get a good ground. The lamp is bright. It may stay on until I hit the right bump in the road and its out again. Anyone had this issue?  :clueless:  Is there away to open this up and not destroy it ?  :dunno:

I've got the same problem. The fix? Put a new harness on the housing. Pg classics sells the harness but there is no way to install it without the tool. Mike at BE&A has the tool and can probably replace it for you. He's getting out of the parts business though. I don't know if he has any harnesses left.

Hhhmmm almost sounds like I'm better off just getting a new light? I admit I was afraid to start yankin' on the harness.......  :banghead:

I have used a starter punch to stake the socket to the housing ,often this is all you need to recreate the good ground contact .
