Spring is here and I probably should think about selling my '71 again.  Great car and with the weather getting nice, I'm already bummed it's stored 25 miles away so I can't enjoy it!
When was the last time you saw a real deal '71 440 6 pack Challenger?

I'd be interested in seeing if the market is getting stronger on 71 Challengers.... :dunno:

Other than a few cars that sold at the auctions, it is hard to gage the market for these cars!
The only other one currently for sale I am aware of is a FC7 shaker one in my area.  Was restored from a former race car, the guy who owned it is a friend of mine, and had to sell it before he was completely finished with the job.  Engine hadn't been started.  6 or 7 years later, the new owner has decided to sell it, still hasn't completed it, the engine still hasn't been started!  And he's asking around 150K.
So mine might be the only running V code '71 Challenger on the market right now, it can be had for around half what the asking price on that other one is,  you can turn the key and it will fire right up and you can take it for a spin!
I drove it to a number of shows and cruises last year, furthest being over 60 miles from my home.  Other than the high rpms on the highway due to the 4:10 rear, it was a fun drive, and I swear I got 14 or 15 mpg too!
Brought home a trophy, I've brought home trophies from just about every show I've entered it in.
But I've advertised it off and on for over a year, and only had one guy interested last summer.  He decided he wanted a '70 more, so passed on it.  Other than that, just a few brokers and a few guys wanted to say nice car.  So maybe no market for 71's? :dunno:

The guy with the purple Challenger is in outer space.
$150,000 for a car that has yet to be fired?????????????????
He has had it for 7 years and taken it no further?

I talked to them at Mcacn and they are typical dreamers. Anyone interested is going to want a running car for $150K.

Brad, your car is a bargain compared to theirs.  Good luck with your sale. If you want to drag it to Carlisle I have an extra under cover space.

Thanks for the offer Rick.  I haven't been able to get to Carlisle yet.  Been on my list but 12 hour drive has kept me away.  And getting the car beyond its driving distance is a challenge for me, even when it was out in my garage.  I don't have a trailer.  I no longer have a truck even if I had a trailer!  And no place on my property to store a trailer either.  So I've taken it where I am comfortable driving it.
I'd be tempted to get the car down to the Mecum auction in Indy in May if I was closer.  I am wary of the auctions with the high costs to list, etc, but some of them draw the guys with money burning a hole in their pocket.
Factor in having the car hauled there, and home if it doesn't sell.  Me having to get a hotel room for days.  I can't justify it.
The Chicago auction in October is only about 6 or 7 miles from my house, in Schaumburg IL.  Convenient enough for me, but I attend that auction as a spectator and it is clear when you are there, there isn't much money in the room.
Mecum has so many auctions now, that it seems like the buyers with decent budgets limit their attendance to mainly Kissimmee and Indy.  Certainly they aren't coming to Chicago in fall.

Brad, I was last at Indy in 2014 and can tell you that sales has really dropped off. Your best bet for a Mecum sale with tons of buyers is Kissimmee. That sale has taken over top sale for Mecum and the crowd and sales would back this up.
Get it out there on line and do not forget Hemmings. I sold my Hemi Belvedere convertible through Hemmings last year for quite a bit more than it was bid at both Indy and Kissimmee Mecum sales. Saved a ton of commission and the ad was about $85 for print and on line. The buyer actually saw the print ad while on vacation in Mexico less than a week after it was published.

I'm contemplating stuffing a lift in my garage so I can bring the '71 home from storage.
But it would still be best if I could find a new owner for it.
Price reduced to $78,500 or close offer. :thinkerg:
