My rarest part
« on: August 05, 2016 - 12:41:57 PM »
I have tried to find one of these for something like 10 years.  Just got this in the mail.

More difficult to find than any of the red parts I look for.

I was lucky, mine was a radio delete as well and it had the delete plate and the cover where the speaker would have been. Not sure how many came like that but I assume not many.

I made my own after realizing a factory radio delete plate would cost as much as I sold my 70 only thumbwheel radio for!!! You would have had a hard time telling it wasn't factory once installed.

have not found the speaker hole cover yet.  Do you have a picture of the cover?

Cars not ordered with a radio, still got the center speaker grill on the dash which was the same as any E Body. Under that grill was a oval shape piece of black cardboard paper the same shape as the speaker, thin like card stock. I might still have one of those around.

E Body's without radios from the factory are not considered "radio delete" because even the basic AM radio was an extra cost option, meaning there are more then you would think without radios from the factory.  :2cents:

would love to see a picture of the card stock speaker cover.

For as many cars that had no ordered radios I would think the radio delete plate would have been easier to find.

More than likely most were thrown away when they installed the sweet stereo after hey bought it.

I had an IROC Camaro that was a radio delete car, pretty rare but the PO took the plate and modified it, then cut up the speaker covers and holes to add these horrible Walmart special stereo components in, kinda sad.

if the part is that rare and hard to find, get it 3D scanned and printed. I'm sure there are many folks who could use a repro

Sorry cuda hunter, I installed mine but like Alan said its like a black cardboard  the shape of the speaker if I can remember right it was about a quarter inch thick.
