Earlier this year I was driving my Challenger home from work. I was stopped at a traffic light and heard a strange noise but couldn't figure out where it was coming from.
Then I started to smell engine oil. There was a aftermarket oil pressure gauge installed by the last owner. The plastic line had ruptured and deposited about 2 quarts of hot engine oil onto the carpet. There was a gas station near by so I ended up adding 2 quarts of oil and pinching the line to make it home. After I came home I spent many hours with a shop vac and a carpet
cleaner. I thought it was pretty clean until my wife & I went for a ride in the car and when we got out my wife's new purse was stained with oil!! Needles to say she was pissed. I cleaned the
carpet several more times but I'm just waisting my time. I'm in the process of installing new carpet and now have another headache. There is dyna-mat under the carpet and it doesn't like oil
either. The dyna-mat that had oil on it turned to a rubbery mush and the adhesive used to install the mat is still stuck to the floor. The good news is the floor is in excellent and will probably never rust! Any suggestions how to remove the dyna-mat adhesive and oil from the floor?
