Hey everyone,

Just picked up my upper control arms from a friend that used his press to install the bearings for me.

He said he did not press them in all the way because he did not know if the old bearings had been (or should be) pressed all the way in.

My immediate guess was "press them as far as you can" and then he said if they get pressed too far, they can't be backed out and need to be removed and (likely) replaced.

My question to you: is there a specification for how far "in" the bearings need to be pressed? I've attached a picture that shows where they are now. He'll press them in as far as they need to be, he just didn't want to do more harm than help. I'm thinking the flat rounded edge of the bearing needs to be flush against the arm, but (as usual), I'll defer to those more knowledgeable than I am.

Thank you!

You're correct....they need to go all the way in until flush :2cents:

Thanks Alan!

Thought of you and some of the guys up north this past weekend when we were up on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.  Saw a radiator shop in town that had a 73 charger out front.  I think you're in Ontario, right?

Agree.  That shoulder on the bushing is the stopping point.
