power windows not working
« on: August 08, 2016 - 01:15:13 PM »
My power windows are barely working in front, goes slow then stops, won't raise in rear.
Are the grounds in the white switch connectors a typical source of problem?  They look pretty cheesy flimsy.
I will tear into it to troubleshoot, just wanted to benefit from your experience of typical problems to look for.

Thanks

Measure voltage at switch while operating... bet you are getting low voltage... usually the firewall connector power terminals corrode and cause excessive voltage drop... and overheating... search here for alternator bypass and ammeter bypass to get wiring fixed if you haven't done that already...

a member on here makes power relay kits for power windows and headlights...

First contact member Cracked Back, he sells a plug in relay kit  that takes the load off the switches & adds a direct connection to power and ground for the motors...

After that lube the mechanisms & what's the condition of your window felts?

Thanks for the referrals guys.

I can certainly build a kit for your car.  There are many in service and they work very well.  As close to plug and play as possible using OEM style connectors to trigger and power the relays/window motors.

If you'd like too see an example of my work, here is the thread for a window kit.
