According to the E-body fastener guide, the spacer between the alt and cylinder head is 1.20" long. The spacer through the alternator is 2.14" long. Both have a phosphate finish.

Someone just mentioned recently that the fastener guide has been on back order for a long time.  Too bad because it's extremely useful.  When I took my Challenger apart years ago, everything ended up in a large tub...unlabeled.  I think I spent more time sorting bolts then I did putting the car together.  On this next build, I've got every fastener in separate storage bins that are labeled.  I learned my lesson the first time.
