Bent parking brake release
« on: August 24, 2016 - 10:56:52 PM »
Went to take a drive tonight and found the parking brake release looking like this.

Thinking about it now, wonder if the cable pulled out , guess time to crawl under and look.
I may have screwed it up today, did not check if the brake was on and drove about 100 ' half backing up and half forward ,getting out of the warehouse before checking and then noticed what the picture shows.
The brake released when pulled from just as shown.

Was parked on level slab, no need for parking brake on, ugh.

The brake release arm has no cable on it... it just connects to the release lever...

You can bend it back without problem, as long as you hold the rod while bending so that you don't put full force on plastic grommet rod slides through...

My left pants leg on my jeans have hooked that many times getting into the 73...

Does anybody know where to get the plastic grommet that the rod slides through. Mine has turned to dust. 😭

Alan had a great idea of using an the head off of an old firewall insulation nail.  Works great!

Got it ordered. Thanks for the link. Shawge, I didn't have and insulation nail to try. Thanks for the idea though, I'll log that somewhere.
