Stroker motors for half the coin...
« on: August 26, 2016 - 09:05:00 PM »
I'm just tryin to start a fight. My stroker kit came with .990 rod pins and pistons with deep valve pockets. Is it a Chevy? It came with 383/400 crank bearings sizes, is it a Mopar? Did other companies have the same size journals? Why are my Mopar crank bearings twice what chevy guys pay?
When 440 Source introduced aluminum heads including the valve train for $995, is it Chinese? Ask other companys where there are parts are made. MSD china. They should have stepped up to a aluminum Hemi Head for the 440. The technology was already there.
When you see the long trunks and the adjustable front suspensions on our cars you knew the technology was there.
Drive it to work, Monday-Friday, adjust the front suspension add a pair of slicks and win at the track on the weekend. Show your numbers on your windshield all week long.

If they came up with Hemi heads for the 440 for around 2k-2500 they would sell so fast, China made or not.... I would buy a set.

The Hemi head thing has been done and it's actually a bad idea. 440 blocks are 2 bolt main and only good for 600HP is one problem. Motor mount to header clearance is another problem, then there is oil drainback as well as head bolt issues.
Stroker is able to be done cheaply as well. We used stock 400 pistons and stock rods in 500 inch RB engines back in the 80's, it doesn't get much cheaper than that.

These are available for $2950 but you still need rocker assemblies,  headers,  intake etc.  Plus block machine work

I've seen those, but I was thinking more along the 2.5k cost complete. They can be made cheaper than that. It is an option but I would think after paying the 3k for that and all the other this and that's you would have 4500 in those

For someone that isn't pushing the 600-650hp mark I don't think the Hemi heads on a 440 block would cause that much damage, basically there for the visual wow factor.

Too much coin just for the  :22yikes: factor. After the initial oh! you have a Hemi. They ask what size is it. Then you repeated well..... it's a 440 with Hemi heads.

For much less coin you can build a 440 to put down more power than any reasonable street car can handle.

Don't misconstrue my statement. I believe that a Hemi is the pinnacle of our Mopar lifes.
But dollar for dollar 383/440 will still put that huge smile on your face.

How much are those heads again? I have close to 20K in my engine - CDN mind you - and build 620 / 620 but there is room to grow with cam and intake swap.
