72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

once I have the engine running I would not shut it down to get the cam broken in . Rpm is not severly critical but you want it running fast enough to keep enough oil on the cam without revving too high .

I assumed that they were but maybe not. I originally bought this coil with the Petronix flamethrower III distributor but when I tried to install it, it wouldn't fit my stage 6 heads.
So I got the firecore distributor and the chrome box.

Do y'all think I can stop worrying about wiping the cam yet?

Probably.  Leave the Joe Gibbs Break In oil in it for a few miles...then change the filter and oil...that stuff works really well from my experience

and during breakin, pick a cold part of day or night, and have
some big box fans in front of radiator.  I also jack the rear wheels off
the ground when doing this, just for extra safety, even though in park
with emerg brake on.

The car should be in neutral.  You shouldn't run the car for long periods of time in Park.  There is something internally that doesn't get lubed in park but does in neutral.

It's been a while since I posted my original question and I thought I'd let Y'all know that I finally got my cam broken in and my motor is running great. The problem the whole time was the Pertronix flame thrower III coil. Apparently it does not work with a MP chrome Box. I thought my first box was bad so I bought a new one installed it and the motor ran for 5 minutes before it quit. Then I bought an MSD Blaster coil with the .8ohm resistor installed it and the original MP chrome box and it has run perfectly ever since.
Thanks for your help and remember a pertronix flame thrower III coil and MP boxes are a No No.
