8 3/4 nutz
« on: October 05, 2016 - 07:20:21 PM »
Trying to decide whether to use the original nuts on my 8 3/4 center section and axles or the new grade 8 ones I picked up.
I have all the original nuts but most are rusted, beat up, dirty and covered in lube.

These new nuts are a bit shorter if that matters.

I don't care about originality but if the shorter nuts are a function issue then....

Which ones should I use?

Agreed, you want a Nyloc on that application.

The original nuts had a small piece of nylon on one side so they didn't vibrate loose.  Since you already have replacements, you could just use some blue lock-tight.  I cleaned up my original nuts and reused them.

Thanks for the responses.

Should I use the nylock nuts on both the center section and the axle studs?

I only paid $1 for the new grade 8 nuts so they can go into my spare hardware storage bin.
