E Body 3" Spring Relocation Kit

Very cool setup. The leaf springs aren't curved. The mounts are set up so that the springs are in at an angle. You will also have to deal with the rear valence humps when relocating the springs.

The leafs aren't curved, but are straight. Rather the mounts are are splayed with the front mounting points narrower than the rear mounting points. It is done deliberately for handling improvements. 71-74 B bodies and 76-80 F bodies also have splayed mounting arrangements. It minimizes rear steer characteristics compared to a parallel leaf arrangement.

Tires still look too wide to fit inside the fender lip. Maybe its just camera angle.

I had time last night to hang a couple of 4" x 12" plates from the spring mounts, I then put a straight edge across from driver side to passenger side. yes indeed they are defiantly angled outwards.

to answer your original question, when I bought my car it had been drag raced most of it's life. it had a round bar (probably 1 1/2") welded between the frame rails with fabricated brackets mounting the shackles just as the oem. problem with this method was it raised the back of the car several inches. must have worked for them? I have removed this setup and gone back to stock.

Finally, got the front all welded in and the rear brackets fabbed and tacked in place, What a job.
It actually moved my leafs in 4" per side.
Now I can get on to the tubs!

I have lots of pictures, but basically what I did was cut out the rear frame sections from one of my parts cars (had one with solid rear frame rails). the factory rear frame sections angle inwards on each side, so what I did was cut and section the left frame and install it on the right side and vise/versa for the opposite side. This way the springs, hangers & mounts all install just as factory. I think you can buy 32" sections of rear frame rail (http://www.ebay.com/itm/70-71-72-73-74-Cuda-Challenger-Rear-Frame-Rail-Pair-MADE-IN-USA-/200584012647?hash=item2eb3bd2367). You will have to modify the trunk pan to suit.
Hope the pictures help. This was the best way I could think of doing it and still look decent/factory. originally I was going to mount a piece of 3" x 2" angle iron at the back frame rail to frame rail but had interference with the gas tank.

Here's a picture of the tire mocked up with plenty of room, I now have 16-1/2" of room without rolling the fender lip! Also a picture of how I modified the frame rail.
