I have a nice pair of 28x12.50 ET Streets that have been stored for about 6 years that I was thinking of putting back in service.

They worked great on my Challenger back in the day even showing a little air under the front tire at the track a time or two.

After dragging them down from my loft and checking them out I discovered cracks on the sidewall

I think I know the answer but I assume they are junk and not even using tubes would help.....

Even if they weren't cracked I bet the traction would still be poor. Any tire like that which has been through a couple of heat cycles can't stand to sit very long, they degrade rather quickly after that first break-in.

No, they aren't junk.  They have one more huge burnout left in them before they need to be tossed.

Generally, the rubber of the tire 'ages' out in six years. Stored out of the sun, maybe a little longer. The rubber gets harder and less elastic/weaker.
You can still drive around on them at moderate speeds but I'd never want to come close to their original speed rating.
