Anyone use Ratech reusable gasket for 8 3/4 center section?
« on: October 01, 2016 - 09:17:09 PM »
Getting ready to install an 8 3/4 center section in the housing.

I picked up a Ratech reusable gasket for the center section the last time I was at Summit Racing.

From what I understand no sealant is needed for these Ratech gaskets?

Anyone ever use one of these gaskets? Opinions? Experience?

Should I use any type of sealant?

Should I torque the bolts more or less?

Thanks.

I've used Lube Locker in the past on Dana axles with good results. I didn't know there was an 8-3/4" reusable gasket option out there, I'll have to look into it.

Didn't get the best review at Summit's website.

Trying to set the 8 3/4 rear up so I can change center sections more easily.
I'm starting with a 742 Sure Grip center section with 3.23 gear, if the wife isn't happy with it I have another 3.55 equipped center section ready to swap in.

I drilled and tapped a drain plug in the 8 3/4 housing and hopefully the reusable gasket lives up to it's name. :dunno:
