70 Cuda door lock problems

I am having problems locking my car.  I can do it manually if I remove the door panels and move the lock link rod, but I can not do it with the key or with the locking lever inside the car.  Locks are new and turn freely.  I could use some suggestions.  Thanks.

Do the rods have the proper clips on them?

Rods are fine, not bowed and proper clips.  There is just a resistance.  I can fully move the horizontal rod in the door back and forth by hand but only partially with the locking lever. The key from the door lock will unlock but not lock.  I have the same problem on both sides so I am wondering whether it is a vertical rod to the door locks issue.  Both locks have been replaced but I see nothing wrong and they move freely.

Okay it is not the locks.  When the the locking mechanism has been manually tripped in the door with a screwdriver the key lock and locking rod works.  The problem seems to be more an issue of the striker hitting the locking mechanism in the door.  I have adjusted the strikers on the pillar as much as I can but that does not trip the door lock mechanism as much as it needs to be to permit the locks to used.  Is there a way to adjust the door lock mechanism further.  I don't think that it can be moved, but there is an allen key adjustment.

Ahh ok this might help.

Put your door striker where it needs to be. There is a hole in your door which an allen key can pass through right above the door lock mechanism. Loosen that up until it spins freely. Close your door to the desired level (basically mating up the door to the fender and rear quarter). Once you have it where you want it, tighten up the allen key and hopefully this will help with your problem.

If you have to move striker that much I would check to make sure your door hinges are not bad. This will cause door to sag and then tightly hang on the striker. Simply adjusting may be addressing the symptom not problem.

I believe it is in the adjustment of the doors as well, however any adjustments end up impacting the fenders which are going to need to be adjusted as well.  It is going to the body shop for some other adjustments so I will get them to have a look at this.  Thanks for the advice.
