T/A and AAR garage exhaust hoses
« on: September 18, 2016 - 05:57:13 PM »
Hey gang,

Wondering if anyone with a T/A or AAR exhaust uses exhaust hoses when working/testing/warming the car up in the garage.

Summit has them, but they're like $200!!! That seems real steep to me. It looks like a glorified vacuum hose to me. Anyone using other hose with any success?

Access to a welder?

I would make them and build adapters, clamping to the stainless flex pipes.

It would be a 1-3 hour job at most and I bet less than $100.00 in materials.

That's kinda what I was thinking. PVC should be able to take any heat at the exhaust tip I would think.

Just to close out this thread, I took Chryco's PVC idea and modified it slightly. I went to the washer/dryer section of Lowes this morning and found a great and CHEAP solution to vent exhaust on a T/A tip so you can work on it in your garage without begin gassed out. The metal piece that goes over the tip is a 4" configurable piece of light gauge metal. By turning the pieces in a given direction you can configure the metal from 0-90 degree angle. Then I just screw clamped on an 8'  metallic dryer vent hose, and presto - instant vent! I put a cinder block up against it so that it doesnt blow off on rev. This was only $33 in parts from Lowes, as opposed to the $200 set I was looking at on summit.
