71 cuda wiper motor stud finish

on a 71 cuda how should the studs for mounting the wiper motor be finished,
where they painted the color of body, not finished at all, etc?

ok, so they got painted with body,
then when motor was installed I am assuming they just threaded
on the nuts, tearing off much of the paint on the threads?
and they were left as such?
