I was just looking around at modern wheel options that don't cost a fortune and still have the look i will be going after.  I found a few styles that have 8.5" wide wheels with 5.3" backspacing and it comes up as fitting.  Has anyone ran this offset without rubbing or know if they fit.  can I run 275 in the rear or would i need a narrower tire?  I know there are many posts about this but i never saw this offset.

Is everything stock? ie, E-body 8 3/4, stock spring locations? Are you planning on running that combination on all 4 corners? And, what diameter is the rim? You say modern so I'm assuming 17x8.5 or 18x8.5? The diameter is important in the front.

In the back, if everything is stock and in the stock locations, yes, that should work. With 275's it will probably be tight to the springs, but you could use a small spacer if necessary.

In the front it will depend on the diameter, because the clearance to the outer tie rod ends will be close. With 18's it will work fine, with 17's I think you'll need at least a 5 to 10mm spacer, the latter of which is the thickest I'd ever want to run for a plain spacer and will require longer wheel studs. If the diameter is less than 17", it won't fit.

Also, depending on the profile, a 8.5" wide rim may not be wide enough to run a 275. I know with my 275/40/17's the narrowest recommended rim is a 17x9".

Most rims I want are 18" or 19".  I am hoping to stay with 18" to give a bit more rubber. I was going to try to keep everything  in the stock location if possible and I have no issues putting narrower wheels up front.  The type of wheels I am looking at is something like Str racing 514 or NS drift ten B (sorry having issues posting pics of them.

Ok, well, 18's make things a lot easier because the outer tie rod ends actually fit inside the lip of the rim.

Looking at the STR 514's it looks like the 18x8.5's are available in a +15 offset, which is about 5.35". That shouldn't be a problem, although it will put the tires pretty close to the frame at full lock. You could use a small spacer if you had contact at full lock.

The problem I see there is that you can't run a 275/35/18 on 18x8.5's, you'd need an 18x9. You can run a 275/40/18, but that's 26.7" tall and that's really too tall for the front tires. You could do something like run 255/40/18's in the front on those rims and run 275/40/18's in the back though. Not sure if you wanted to keep everything the same all the way around or not.

You can run 18x9's up front, or even 18x9.5's or 18x10's. I run 17x9's on my Challenger with 275/40/17's front and back. I use a 0 offset, or 5" backspace on mine. They're tight to the fenders in the front, but that was necessary to clear the outer tie rod end with the 17x9's.

These would work with 275/35/18's, you might need a small spacer to fine tune the frame clearance. They're similar to the STR 514's in design
